Overview

This project focuses on symbolic imagery and metaphors that suits the couple we chose. Using design we convey storytelling through colors, typography, and composition. I chose two celebrities, Jay-Z and Beyonce, and their relationship with music, success, and love for each other.

Research

I began the process by choosing words that represented the couple. Researching the couple's story gave me many words to describe their life. I decided to choose the words strong and succseful. The word strong symbolizes their love for each other and the longevity of their relationship and their success in the music industry.

Sketches

The symbolic representations I chose were two mics shaped into a heart. This represents their love for each other and their love for making music. I focused on making the composition of the two mics and making it blend together so it looked like a heart and I added a black outline for the heart.

Design Process

One of the first steps I did, was to choose a color to represent the couple. I chose the color red because it means love, passion, and desire. For the mics, I drew the old-fashioned mics to give them more character and it flows better for a heart shape and then I added a black outline to make it pop out more so the whole heart has unity. Additionally, I chose a serif font for the title to represent grandeur and importance. For the background I added skyscrapers from New York. The skyscrapers represent their success in a way because they reached their goals and they're always on top in the music industry.
